Dr. Martin-Harris was recently able to speak at Commfest this year. Commfest is an event put on by the School of Communication at Northwestern University which spans from theater, performance and film to audiology, communicative disorders, and, of course, dysphagia.
Dr. Martin-Harris’ talk, ‘Measuring and Treating Dysphagia – It All Started at Northwestern’, detailed the history and impact of swallowing research initiated by Dr. Jeri Logemann in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, and how the progression of that foundational work has influenced numerous researchers, clinicians and the field as a whole.
